In the winter semester of 2023, the Data Literacy Project will once again be organizing various offerings that will give students the opportunity to increase their data skills.

The offers are designed in such a way that they can be taken up flexibly and according to one's own content-related interests as well as their schedule.

Hands-on Sessions

In each of the 90-minute Hands-on Sessions de, we discuss a specific topic in data and digitization or give a brief introduction to useful digital tools for working with data.

In the coming semester, we will cover a wide range of topics, such as tools for working with tabular data, critically examining statistics in everyday life, and understanding and questioning artificial intelligence and its application. A complete listing of all Hands-on Sessions can be found on website de.

Interested students from all departments can participate in the sessions. No special prior knowledge is required.

Certificate Program Data Literacy Jena (DaLiJe)

The Data Literacy certificate program de (DaLiJe) gives anyone interested the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics of data and digitization.

The first level of the certificate program de consists of an online self-study course that provides a broad overview of the basics of data handling and its importance for research and society. In addition, this level requires the completion of hands-on sessions that delve deeper into individual tools and methods.

For the second level de, we have been able to attract further modules from the various courses of study, which can be taken by students from all departments and credited towards the certificate.

More to Come

In the course of the coming semester, there will be further offerings in the area of data literacy, e.g. a datathon and a beginner's workshop on machine learning for non-computer scientists. Details can be found on the website of the Data Literacy project de.
