Programming and tying one's shoes have one thing in common: In order to learn it, you have to do it (repeatedly).

As a result of the ongoing digitisation of all research fields, competencies regarding the work with digital tools become more and more important.

In this course, interested students from all fields of the humanities can get an introduction into the fundamentals of programming and acquire first experiences with the programming language Python.

The course consists of three blocks:

  1. General introduction into terms and definitions in programming and the functioning of a computer
  2. Basic principles of programming and first steps in Python
  3. Development of first own programmes

The predominant part of the course will be practical exercises in Python - Learning by doing! Successful participants can obtain a certificate of attendance. If possible, the course will take place in the computer pool of the FSU Jena. Otherwise the course will be held on Zoom. The corresponding information will be send to all registered participants at the latest until 10 September 2021.
