About the format "KI-Werkstatt Lehre"

Methods from the field of artificial intelligence, especially machine learning, are making their way into more and more aspects of our lives, whether in science, business, or private life. As a result, a fundamental understanding of the underlying methods, basic competencies in the application of AI and the critical evaluation of results (AI literacy) are important qualifications for university graduates in all fields of study. This applies not only to the currently much-discussed generative AI systems (e.g., ChatGPT) but also to applications that can be used in various research fields (e.g., natural language processing, automatic image analysis).

The integration of these methods and tools into university courses presents educators with many new challenges.

To address this, the Thuringian University Initiative for AI in Academic Teaching (THInKI) and the Data Literacy Jena project (DaLiJe) are organizing the "KI-Werkstatt Lehre." Within the framework of this open event format, we want to provide educators from different fields of study with the opportunity to exchange ideas in a collegial setting and collaborate with AI experts, to develop concepts for the integration of AI into teaching. As the name suggests, this also involves collaboratively developing concrete, usable content and teaching concepts. The specific objectives are always aligned with the needs of the participants.

During the events, already active projects from the university have the opportunity to present their ideas and, if applicable, existing courses.

Interested educators from all fields of study are welcome. The event is explicitly aimed at those who have little or no prior experience in the field of AI.
